CAHSEE Waiver Data Collection

Beginning in 2011–12, the CAHSEE waiver data will be collected via the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS). You can find information about the CAHSEE waiver data collection in the CALPADS Data Guide in sections 2.1.6 (Student Waivers) and 3.8 (Graduates). This guide is found at the CALPADS System Documentation Web page.

The California Code of Regulations, Title 5, Section 1207.1, required that the California Department of Education (CDE) collect CAHSEE waiver information from LEAs by December 31 of each year. You can find these regulations at the Test Regulations (DOC) document.

Administration Apportionment Process

The California Department of Education (CDE) will develop an Apportionment Information Report form for each school district and charter school that includes the apportionment amounts due to each school district or charter school for the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) administrations it conducted during the previous school year. Each fall, the CDE will send school districts and charter schools the Apportionment Information Report for the purpose of certifying the accuracy of the apportionments for the previous school year.

To ensure the accuracy of the completed Apportionment Information Report forms provided by the CDE, school districts and charter schools should continue to track the number of students for whom apportionments may be claimed. The CDE has developed a CAHSEE school site data collection form (DOC) that schools are encouraged to use to track their apportionments throughout the 2013–14 school year.

For the July CAHSEE administration, school districts and charter schools can claim apportionments for grades twelve and adult education students who take one or both parts of the CAHSEE. For the October, November, and December CAHSEE administrations, school districts can claim apportionments for grade eleven, twelve and adult education students who take one or both parts of the CAHSEE.

For the February and March CAHSEE administrations, school districts can claim apportionments for: (1) grade eleven, twelve, and adult education students who take one or both parts of the CAHSEE; (2) grade ten students who participate in the census or make-up administration; and (3) grade ten students who are absent during the census administration but for whom the school district or charter school returned an answer document with completed demographic information.

School districts will receive:
