- Proposed Agenda for the Invitation to Submit (ITS) Meeting on Tuesday, January 8, 2008.
A proposed draft agenda presenting the Publishers Invitation to Submit Meeting scheduled for January 8, 2008, was reviewed. No changes were made to the agenda. Discussion noted that the day is scheduled to begin with a review of the adoption process, schedule of significant events, and publisher responsibilities. Later in the morning a review of the standards maps and the optional evaluation criteria maps will be presented. After lunch, there will be a Question & Answer session, followed by a review of Legal and Social Compliance, as well as training on the submission process. At the end of the day, publishers will have an opportunity to travel to different “topic tables” to discuss specific questions. An overview of all the handouts was presented.
- Review of Draft ITS PowerPoint Presentation.
A draft of the Invitation to Submit PowerPoint presentation was discussed and edited in 10-page sections. Changes were made to slides clarifying and adding additional detail, especially related to completing the standards maps for Programs 2 and 3 and the English Language Arts/English Language Development matrices. Also, since some of the presenters are not attending the meeting, slide assignments will be realigned by staff.
- Additional Information
Irma Hernandez-Larin also advised the members that there is concern over the current number of Content Review Panel members that are qualified in Spanish to serve on panels for Program 3. Currently, only two (and possibly a third person), are fluent in both reading and writing. It is estimated that there are five programs that will be submitted for Program 3. Over the next two weeks, additional Content Review Panel members need to be recruited. In addition, staff will review Instructional Materials Advisory Panel applications to see if there are any qualified to serve as Content Review Panel members.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
