Mathematics SMC Chair Munger called the Mathematics Subject Matter Committee (SMC) meeting to order at 10:30 a.m.
Chair Munger explained that all Commissioners, Facilitators and staff participating in the Mathematics Adoption were invited to attend this training meeting to ensure everyone understands the major steps of the adoption deliberation process and their role at deliberations. During deliberations week, panels will be in separate meeting rooms with their assigned facilitator and staff. To ensure an equitable review for all programs, each panel will follow a similar deliberation process and protocols.
The committee reviewed the following documents:
- PowerPoint for the General Session (Monday, the first day during deliberations week at the Doubletree Hotel)
- 2007 Mathematics Primary Adoption Guidelines for Deliberations
Staff led training on the “8 STEPS” of the deliberation process, including how to chart the panel’s discussion in the meeting room at deliberations.
SMC Chair Munger invited public comment and then the committee recessed for lunch from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.
SMC Chair Munger reconvened the meeting at 1:00 p.m and staff continued the training. A DVD of the meeting and the materials will be sent to Commissioners and Facilitators who were absent.
