SMC Chair Sullivan called the RLA/ELD SMC meeting to order at 1:35 a.m.
A. Assignments for the September Publisher Briefing
Chair Sullivan provided a suggested breakdown of slides by content for speaker assignment at the publisher briefing. Commissioners, and Dale Webster from the SBE, volunteered and were assigned different sections.
B. Review Talking Points for September 6, 2007, Publisher Briefing for Programs 1, 2, 3, and 5
Prior to reviewing specific slides and their talking points, Chair Sullivan noted that she had a number of edits, as well as non-content related comments and transitions on different slides. She requested, and other members agreed, that these comments would not be part of the discussion but given to staff to include as they corrected the slides. Members reviewed the slides and talking points, revising and unifying the information.
Susan Martimo noted that the revised slides and talking points would be emailed to Becky Sullivan and Mary-Alicia McRae by noon on September 5 for review, and then sent to the commissioners. A final, hard copy of the PowerPoint presentation and talking points would be available at the publisher briefing for all commissioners and staff.
