State Board of Education President Ted Mitchell Issues a Statement on Death of Gap Inc. Co-Founder Don Fisher

Sacramento-Ted Mitchell today issued the following statement regarding the death of Gap Inc. Co-Founder Don Fisher:

"On behalf of the State Board of Education I want to express my heartfelt condolences to the Fisher family as well as my thanks for sharing Don so generously with us and with the children of California and the nation. Don’s eight- year service to the State Board of Education resulted in countless policy changes that helped improve California's education system. Don’s commitment to education as the key to opportunity and a bulwark of our democracy stemmed from his own experiences and his belief in the potential of all children. I have lost a friend and a mentor; we have all lost a hero. We will all miss Don very much but we are comforted that his legacy will live on.”
