- Common Core State Standards: Implementation Tools and Resources
(PDF)
A list of tools and resources, primarily developed by CCSSO and lead writers of the standards, to point states to promising practices and tools to support CCSS implementation. Update on April 12, 2012.
- Expanded Learning Opportunities Publication
A brief by the CCSSO, Connecting High-Quality Expanded Learning Opportunities and the Common Core State Standards to Advance Student Success, that explores ways to strengthen expanded learning opportunities by building their connection to the CCSS.
- Achieve the Core
A Web site created by the CCSS authors and other contributors to provide free, high-quality resources to educators implementing the CCSS. Resources include implementation tools, webinars, articles, sites, and research.
- ASCD "Get to the Core" Webinar Series
A series of webinars on the common core standards produced by ASCD, a nonprofit educational leadership organization dedicated to advancing best practices and policies for the success of each learner, to assist educators on the implementation of the CCSS.
Mathematics CCSS
- Criteria for Resources Aligned to Common Core State Standards in Mathematics
(PDF)
Developed by Jason Zimba, one of the authors of the Common Core State Standards, the seven criteria for resources outlined in this document should guide development of curriculum modules and accompanying materials. - Inside Mathematics
This site features classroom examples of innovative teaching methods and insights into students learning, tools for mathematics instruction, and video tours of the ideas and materials on the site. Their expanding resources include connecting to the CCSS for Mathematics. To illustrate the CCSS for Mathematical Practice, links are provided for each individual practice standard correlated to excerpts of mathematics lessons, demonstrating examples of successful strategies to launch and sustain the practice of standards in the classroom. - The Illustrative Mathematics Project
The project aims to illustrate each of the standards using high quality reviewed tasks from teacher leaders. The site provides guidance to all stakeholders implementing the CCSS by illustrating the range and types of mathematical work that students will experience, and other implementation tools. The Web site is under development, with illustrated standards added on a regular basis. Contributors and advisors to the project include common core authors William McCallum, Jason Zimba, and Phil Daro.
- Progression Documents for the CCSS Mathematics Standards
Narrative documents describing the progression of a topic across a number of grade levels, informed both by research on children’s cognitive development and by the logical structure of mathematics. - Hyperlinked Version of the Mathematics Standards
(PDF)
A version of the math standards that has hyperlinks within the document. - Visual Depiction of the Mathematical Practices
(PDF)
This visual displays some higher-order structure to the Standards for Mathematical Practice. - Mathematics
Lead Writer Bill McCallum’s Blog
CCSS Mathematics lead writer, Bill McCallum, provides information regarding implementation projects related to the CCSS for mathematics.
- Common Core State Standards for
Mathematics Curriculum Analysis Tool
(DOC)
This tool, developed by Dr. William Bush of the University of Louisville, is comprised of a review framework for states or districts to use to guide local decision-making in selecting curriculum resources and textbooks. Dr. Bush has also created a PowerPoint
(PPT) to
offer professional development to those who wish to use the analysis tool.

Transformative Implementation of Common Core Standards in Mathematics and New
Assessments prior to 2014-15
(DOC)
A paper written by Jere Confrey of The Friday Institute for Educational Innovation.
English Language Arts and Literacy CCSS
- Revised Publishers’ Criteria for the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Literacy
These documents provide criteria for publishers and curriculum developers as they work to ensure alignment of materials in grades K-2 and 3-12 with the Common Core State Standards in English language arts and literacy for history/social studies, science, and technical subjects. By underscoring what matters most in the standards, the criteria illustrate what shifts should take place in the next generation of curricula, including paring away elements that distract or are at odds with the standards. - The Common Core State Standards: Supporting Districts and Teachers with Text Complexity
A webinar hosted by the CCSSO on sharing tools and resources to support teachers and districts with text complexity, the linchpin of the CCSS. - Literacy Design Collaborative
The Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) incorporates literacy into middle and high school content areas. Designed to make literacy instruction the foundation of the core subjects, LDC allows teachers to build content on top of a coherent approach to literacy. The LDC framework is used by teachers as common templates to create LDC tasks, modules, and courses designed to teach students to meet common core literacy standards while engaging in demanding content. - American Council on the Teaching of World Language
An alignment of the world language standards and the CCSS for ELA. The four strands of the CCSS - Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language - are represented in the National Standards for Learning Languages by the Communication standards (interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational) and the level of proficiency demonstrated. In addition, the standards of the other four goal areas for learning languages - Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities, also support and are aligned with the CCSS.
Communications and Outreach
-
Communications Toolkit
(PDF)
Common messages, tools, and frequently asked questions about the development of the CCSS. - PowerPoint Template (PPT)
PowerPoint presentation with general CCSS information that states can use, modify, and personalize. - Parents' Guide to Student Success
A guide, available in English and Spanish, for the CCSS in grades K-8 and two for grades 9-12 (one for English language arts/literacy and one for mathematics) created by the National PTA. The guide includes key items that children should be learning in each grade and activities parents can do at home to support their child's learning.
