Education Code Section 51225.3
(a)(1)(D) specifies, an American government course is required
for high school graduation. A minimum set of historical documents
that must be read and taught as part of the American government
course are:
- The Declaration of Independence.
- The Emancipation Proclamation.
- The Federalist Papers.
- George Washington's Farewell Address.
- The Gettysburg Address.
- The United States Constitution, including the Bill of Rights.
