Dear Publishers of Kindergarten Through Grade Eight Mathematics Instructional Materials:
2007 MATHEMATICS PRIMARY ADOPTION
INITIAL INTENT TO SUBMIT SURVEY (PUBLISHER BULLETIN 2006-04)

The California Department of Education (CDE) recently received your completed publisher survey form, which indicates your company is considering submitting a program(s) as part of the 2007 Mathematics Primary Adoption of Instructional Materials. It is imperative that the CDE staff use the most accurate data possible as we continue to plan for meeting space(s) and the number of reviewers needed for this adoption.

Enclosed are two documents that will help us refine our planning information for this adoption:

  • Checklist of Program Requirements and Publisher Responsibilities – This checklist is provided to remind publishers of a few requirements and responsibilities associated with participating in the 2007 Mathematics Primary Adoption. These should be carefully considered and fully understood before deciding to submit a program for adoption review.
  • Initial Intent to Submit Survey (DOC; 37KB; 2pp.) – After reading the “Checklist” provided, please complete and return the enclosed publisher survey form by Wednesday, July 26, 2006. The survey results will help CDE staff better prepare and plan for the 2007 Mathematics Adoption in recruiting reviewers and contracting for training and deliberation facilities. Completing this survey does not commit you to participate in the 2007 adoption. The actual submission deadline for the 2007 Mathematics Primary Adoption is March 7, 2007.

The SBE-adopted evaluation criteria and timeline for this adoption are posted on the Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources (CFIR) Division Web site at Instructional Materials, Mathematics.

If you have any questions regarding the 2007 Mathematics Primary Adoption or this survey, please contact Mary Sprague, Lead Consultant, Curriculum Frameworks Office, at 916-319-0510 or by e-mail at msprague@cde.ca.gov.

Sincerely,

Thomas Adams, Director
Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources Division
