Presentation Preparation Guidelines for Publishers
- You will be given 30 minutes to set up any displays or equipment. Please bring staff to assist you.
- Please observe the time allocation assigned to your company.
- It is suggested that you spend the major portion of your allocated time on the basic program by presenting a balanced discussion of the instructional materials and how they relate to the Framework, content standards, and the evaluation criteria.
- A majority of the panel members are classroom teachers. Therefore, presenting materials from a teacher’s viewpoint and indicating how they will be used in the classroom will probably be most effective.
- You may display or hand out any type of material. Regardless of what is displayed or discussed, Content Review Panel (CRP) and Instructional Materials Advisory Panel (IMAP) members may only consider in their evaluation those materials submitted for adoption. Therefore, we recommend that your presentation focus on materials submitted for adoption. All handouts must be collected from the CRP and IMAP members at the end of the presentation. Two copies may be retained by the Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources Division (CFIR) staff and one by the commissioner.
- A display of your instructional materials may assist CRP and IMAP members in making a visual connection between the materials and the important issues raised in your presentation.
- A brief review of the essential components of the program at the end of the presentation may reinforce the salient points made earlier.
- We realize that presenters may be nervous, so we encourage commissioners, CRP and IMAP members, and CDE staff to make this a cordial and rewarding learning experience for all.
Good luck in your presentations.
