Dear Publishers of Visual and Performing Arts Instructional Materials for Kindergarten Through Grade Eight:

PUBLISHER BULLETIN NUMBER 3
2006 VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS PRIMARY ADOPTION
PUBLISHERS INVITATION TO SUBMIT MEETING FOLLOW-UP Q & A

The Invitation to Submit Meeting for the 2006 Visual and Performing Arts Primary Adoption was held on January 9, 2006. At that meeting, Curriculum Commissioners and California Department of Education (CDE) staff provided an overview of the adoption process, rules and regulations for publishers, and the Criteria for Evaluating Instructional Materials. Publishers were also given a copy of the Invitation to Submit (ITS) document.

A number of questions were posed during the meeting and in subsequent meetings with individual publishers. This bulletin responds to those questions.

The State Board-adopted Schedule of Significant Events for the 2006 Visual and Performing Arts Primary Adoption is enclosed as Attachment B to this bulletin. Please review the key dates carefully, in particular the submission deadline of March 15, 2006. We must receive your submission packet no later than 5:00 p.m. on that date in order for you to participate in this adoption.

If you have additional questions regarding the 2006 Visual and Performing Arts Primary Adoption, please contact Kenneth McDonald, Lead Consultant, at (916) 319-0447, or e-mail at kmcdonal@cde.ca.gov, or Susan Martimo, Administrator, Curriculum Frameworks Unit, (916) 319-0446, or e-mail at smartimo@cde.ca.gov.

Sincerely,
