Disclaimer About the Data

Data disclaimer for the following data sources: California Basic Educational Data System (CBEDS), Language Census, Free or Reduced Price Meals/CalWORKs.

When using these data, keep in mind the following factors:

  • Be aware that these data are collected at different times of the year and represent counts of students at that point in time. Elements from one source cannot be combined with elements from any of the other sources to make assumptions regarding individual students.

  • School enrollment (CALPADS Fall 1) counts are collected on "Information Day" in early October and represent students enrolled in school on that day.

  • CALPADS Spring (English learner) counts are collected in early spring when there are more migrant students enrolled in schools. As a result, students included in this collection may not have been included in the schools fall enrollment counts.

  • Be careful when comparing race and language data. For example, if you have one Hispanic student at a school and one student whose primary language is Spanish, do not assume these are the same student.
