CALPADS MAINTENANCE RELEASE
There will be a CALPADS maintenance release this Saturday, January 19, 2013 and updates will be in production on Monday, January 21, 2013. CALPADS will be unavailable from Friday, January 18 at 6 p.m. until Monday, January 21 at 6 a.m. to accommodate this release. The defect fixes and changes included in this release will be specified in a Release Update, which will be available on the Release Updates link on the CALPADS Web page[http://www.cde.ca.gov/calpads] on the Tuesday following the release. A listserv message will be sent when the release update has been posted on the CALPADS Web page.
ASSESSMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITY FUNCTIONALITY UPDATE
The Assessments and Accountability (A&A) functionality will be available in the production environment soon after the Janaury release on a pilot basis. To transition support for this new functionality, CALPADS Service Desk staff will work with a limited number of local educational agencies (LEAs) to exercise the new functionality. CSIS will notify the pilot LEAs this week. Other LEAs are requested not to use the new functionality until notified, and any service requests from LEAs not in the pilot group will receive low priority.
PREVIEW DATA
For those LEAs that certified Fall 1 by the December certification deadline, the CDE will provide a private preview in DataQuest of the graduate and dropout counts, and 4-year graduation cohort rate the week of January 21.
Following the Accountability Progress Reporting release of the revised growth API and AYP for the 2011–12 Accountability Cycle early next month, the CDE will also provide the students determined to be continuously enrolled based on the data pulled from the CALPADS ODS on December 26, 2012 and included in the revised accountability measures. When the revised Growth API, AYP, and PI reports are posted to the CDE Web site, they will reflect data corrections LEAs submitted to the Educational Testing Service (ETS) during the data correction window. The CDE previously considered extracting 2011–12 enrollment and exit data again on February 26, 2013 to recalculate continuous enrollment for a final revision to the accountability measures; however, this revision has been canceled pending the outcome of any late data corrections made through ETS. Since the CDE is not currently planning to do another revision to the accountability measures, there is no longer a need to pull 2011–12 enrollment and exit data from the ODS again in February for accountability purposes.

NO ALTERNATIVE COLLECTION FOR FRPM DATA
In 2012–13 FRPM data will only be collected at the student-level in CALPADS. The Consolidated Application Reporting System (CARS) will not collect FRPM counts in the aggregate this year. Therefore, it is critical that all LEAs and Independently Reporting Charter Schools (IRCs) submit and certify 2012–13 CALPADS Fall 1 FRPM data for all schools (Certification report 5.1a – Free or Reduced Price Meal Eligibility – Count), including for those schools with National School Lunch Program Provision 2 or 3 statuses. These data are used to determine funding and grant eligibility for various programs, including:
- Federal Title I and Title II funding for charter schools
- Charter School Facility Grant Program
- After School Education and Safety Program grant eligibility
- 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program grant eligibility
