Free and Reduced-Price Meal (FRPM) Data – Downloadable File

The California Department of Education (CDE) has posted a downloadable file that includes, for non-provision schools, the data that LEAs certified in report 5.1a – Free or Reduced Price Meal Eligibility – Count as part of their 2012–13 Fall 1 data submission. This file is posted on the Student Poverty - FRPM Data Web page. Since schools with an National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provision 2 or 3 status are prohibited from collecting FRPM applications for individual students, the file identifies which schools have a provision 2 or 3 status, and for those schools includes the percentages only of students eligible for free lunches or Free and Reduced Price Meals (FRPM) based on:

The file shows these data for K–12 students and for students who are ages 5–17 with primary or short-term enrollments on Census Day (October 3, 2012).

LEAs should have already reviewed these data for accuracy. However, if after further review LEAs find that corrections are required, they must submit a service desk ticket to the CALPADS Service Desk explaining what is incorrect and describe how they plan to correct the local data. The CDE will consider these requests on a case-by-case basis. LEAs will have until May 10, 2013 to recertify these data. (Note: Recertification of FRPM data will not alter Universal After School Education and Safety Program and 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program funding determinations for 2013–14; these determinations have already been made.)

It should be noted that LEAs will not be able to change the data shown for Provision 2 and 3 schools. For questions regarding FRPM data for schools on NSLP Provision 2 or 3 status, please contact the Nutrition Services Division through e-mail at NSDData@cde.ca.gov  or by calling 916-323-2485. When e-mailing: Please mention “Provision 2 or 3 status” or put an appropriate subject in the subject line, to ensure that your e-mail gets directed appropriately.
