Recognizing that California must plan for the future, State Superintendent Tom Torlakson brought together 59 leaders from across California—teachers, parents, community, labor and business leaders—to share their thinking about education in the state. The resulting report, A Blueprint for Great Schools, provides vision and direction for our education system, including a focus on 21st Century learning, meeting the needs of the whole child, and rebuilding the ranks of California's teachers with resources and respect. Now in his second term, Torlakson is launching A Blueprint for Great Schools Version 2.0.

About the Transition Advisory Team
The Transition Advisory Team worked to identify key issues impacting students, schools, districts, and the California Department of Education and set goals to address them.
The Transition Advisory Team's members include representatives from organizations with key roles in ensuring the success of every California student. Members of the Transition Advisory Team will also join working groups to discuss key issues in more detail, including:
- School finance reform and funding;
- Curriculum and assessment;
- Accountability and data;
- Educator preparation and evaluation;
- Early childhood learning;
- Education supports for the whole child;
- Secondary transformation (including linked learning, career technical education, A-G guidelines); and
- Flexibility and efficiency initiatives, school facilities/construction reform and modernization.
