Instructions: Other ESEA Nonprofit School

Consolidated Application, Part I program instructions for Other ESEA Nonprofit Private School Participation.
Data Collection Purpose

To identify private nonprofit schools that the LEA will provide with Title II Part A (Teacher Quality) and/or Title III LEP funded services.

The completed screen, along with the LEA’s records of contact, will serve as certification that the nonprofit private schools listed were contacted and either chose to participate in Title II, Part A (Teacher Quality); or Title III, Part A (LEP); or declined participation in Title II, Part D (Technology).

Guidance

The ESEA Title IX, Uniform Provisions federal guidance at the U.S. Department of Education (Outside Source) outlines mandated consultation between LEAs and eligible private schools. The LEA records should include dates of contact, persons contacted, and the results of such contacts with each nonprofit private school or NPS. These records should document both participating nonprofit private schools and those choosing not to participate.

Preloaded Data

School Name and CDS Code: Use the Private School Database for a final search to identify any eligible private schools that filed after February 2011. Contact Laura Nelson, Associate Governmental Programs Analyst, regarding adding them. Access to the Affidavits filed annually by California private schools requires a county password. To get your county’s (or a contiguous county’s) password, send an e-mail to ps affidavit response@cde.ca.gov; or contact Laura Nelson, lnelson@cde.ca.gov; or 916-319-0839.

Note: this data collection will not display if there are no nonprofit private schools in the LEA attendance area.

If you believe that a school on the list is actually located in another district, please contact your County Office of Education (COE) for a determination as to the correct district of location. If the private school should indeed be listed on another LEA’s application, or if you have questions about a private school that appears on, or is missing from, your LEA’s private school list, please contact Laura Nelson, Associate Governmental Programs Analyst.

The Enrollment data is supplied from the CDS file.
