Missing 2011–12 Data
As we begin extracting data from CARS for submission to the U.S. Department of Education (ED), we are discovering that some LEAs did not certify all of their 2011–12 data. We identified over 40 LEAs that have one or more schools in program improvement that did not certify their program improvement data. As such, when we submitted the data files to the U.S. Department of Education, these LEAs are missing. This afternoon, we will be re-opening the following two data collections to allow LEAs (with one or more schools in program improvement) that did not certify their data to do so.
- Title I, Part A School Program Improvement Activities
- Title I, Part A Program Improvement Expenditures and Reallocation Criteria
The ED is giving us a limited time opportunity to revise certain data, so it is critical that the LEAs with missing data submit it by Thursday, January 31, 2013.
How do you know whether your LEA is one of those with missing data? If you see either of these data collections on your Home Tab in CARS, you need to complete and certify these data collections. If you do not see either of these data collections on your Home Tab in CARS, either these data collections are not relevant to your LEA or your LEA has already certified the data.
Winter 2012 Release
The Winter 2012 data collections were released on January 15, 2013. Attached is the cover letter. Already, over 80 LEAs have started working on their Title I School Allocations and over 70 have started working on their Economic Impact Aid School Allocations.
For a complete list of the Winter 2012 data collections visit the CARS Web page. Please note that the instructions contain more detailed information regarding the source data in CARS. Also, information about the error messages is now within the step by step section of the instructions. We are developing the pre-recorded training webinar of the Winter 2012 data collections, which will be released in the near future.
Spring 2013 Release
Now that the Winter 2012 release is out, we are shifting our focus to gathering requirements for the Spring 2013 release. We are targeting mid-May for the release with a due date of June 30, 2013.
