July 17, 2007
Dear County and District Superintendents and Chief Business Officials, Charter School Administrators, and County Auditors:
For your planning purposes, we are enclosing the Calendar of Key Deadlines 2007-08 School District and County Office of Education Apportionments, and the Calendar of Key Deadlines 2007-08 Charter School Apportionments. These calendars provide due dates for the various apportionment documents and other reports necessary for the California Department of Education (CDE) to determine funding for local educational agencies. A copy of these deadlines can be found on the Internet at http://www.cde.ca.gov/re/ca/fc.
We are required by law to certify apportionments by specified dates. Receiving your information by the deadline helps ensure timely processing of the apportionments and that they are based on the most current data. If you have corrections once your information has been sent, please contact CDE apportionment unit staff immediately. An up-to-date listing of CDE apportionment staff can be found at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/sf/rl/reccontacts.asp.
All tax, attendance, and revenue data submitted for 2007-08 will be collected through the Principal Apportionment data collection software: the Principal Apportionment Tax software, due to be released in mid-October, and the Principal Apportionment Attendance and Principal Apportionment Revenue Software, due to be released in early November.
Please remember to use the Principal Apportionment Revenue Software, version 2006-6.02, when submitting Annual Apportionment data for fiscal year 2006-07. Any corrections for any prior fiscal year should be submitted through the appropriate software or form for that fiscal year. Corrections for years prior to 2006-07 must be supported by an auditor letter of concurrence.
If you have any questions regarding the calendar or Web site, please contact Julie Brucklacher, Manager, Office of Principal Apportionment and Special Education, at (916) 322-5906 or by e-mail at jbruckla@cde.ca.gov. For questions regarding Categorical Programs, please contact the Categorical Programs Unit, at (916) 327-0538.
Sincerely,
Hermie S. Briones, Administrator
