Funding Description

Environmental Education (EE) provides California Regional Environmental Education Community (CREEC) Network Grants to support programs that will result in long-term educational benefits to California educators and students within their California County Superintendents Educational Service Region. The CREEC Network plays a vital role in connecting California educators with professional development and information about high-quality, standards-based environmental education programs. This is a three-year grant program (2007-2010) that supports the operation of the 11 Superintendents regions of the CREEC Network. No new applications will be accepted for fiscal year 2008-09.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Institutions of higher education, local educational agencies, nonprofit organizations, other organizations or agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Public colleges and universities; governing boards of any school district; community college districts; nonprofit organizations; 501 (c)(3) tax exempt educational organizations; regional conservation centers/districts; and other state and local agencies, including cities, counties, regional boards and commissions, and special districts. No new applications will be accepted for fiscal year 2008-09.

Other The CREEC Network provides a vital link for both “formal” classroom teachers and “non-formal” educators, and has done so since it began operation in 1997. Its mission is to (1) develop a statewide network of knowledgeable environmental education professional development and resources to educators, kindergarten through grade twelve, in their region; and (2) identify and promote only high-quality, standards-based environmental education materials, projects, and programs.
