Charter schools that receive funding through the charter categorical block grant are not eligible to apply separately for the categorical programs identified in Education Code (EC) Section 47634.4(f). The categorical block grant also includes an amount representing a charter school's entitlement for state Economic Impact Aid (EIA).

Match Requirement No
Allocation Formula The charter school categorical block grant has two funding components: $528 per unit of ADA for 2008-09 multiplied by the charter school ADA, and an amount in-lieu of EIA which is the statewide average amount of funding per identified educationally disadvantaged pupil multiplied by the number of educationally disadvantaged pupils enrolled in the charter school. The per-ADA entitlement plus the in-lieu of EIA funding constitute the total categorical block grant that the charter school will receive.

Note: There may be insufficient monies to fully fund the 2008-09 block grant at the $528 rate, which could require a deficit factor to be applied. The rate may be reduced close to the 2007-08 rate of $500 per ADA.
