Administrator Training (Federal Funds)

Another opportunity to apply for Fiscal Year (FY) 2008-09 funding for Administrator Training Program (AB 430) is available. Please be advised that these applications will go before the May 2009 meeting of the State Board of Education for approval and grant awards are anticipated to be released in July 2009. The grant period for these funds is from July 1, 2008 through September 1, 2010. All training and online surveys must be completed by that time. You may request funding from February 5, 2009 to March 13, 2009. The Administrator Training Program (AB 430), which reauthorizes the Principal Training Program (AB 75), became effective July 1, 2006. It supports professional development that focuses on building principals' and vice principals' leadership skills and the capacity necessary to serve effectively in their critical and complex roles. Federal funding comes from No Child Left Behind (NCLB): Title II, Part A, Principal Training.

Eligible Applicants	Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria	Principals or vice principals at a school site can participate in Administrators Training. Note: A third application cycle is now available for approximately $300,000 in remaining funds for this program. Please refer to the request for application web site for more information.
Other Eligibility Considerations	Principals or vice principals at school sites that receive the following funding are required to participate in Administrator Training: Reading First, High Priority Schools, and the School Assistance Intervention Team programs.

Other	LEAs request funding by completing the online application. Only providers approved by the California State Board of Education may provide the training. Amendment period to request additional funding may be permitted in December 2008 through January 2009 at which time applicants will adjust funding levels or new funding may be applied for if funding permits.
