Funding Description

Pursuant to the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001, Title 1, Part C, the purpose of the Migrant Education program ensures that all students meet the state's challenging academic standards. Funding through this application process supports 23 regional offices to provide supplementary education and support services to migrant children. Funds are determined using an approved CDE funding formula. Refer to the Request for Applications list for more information.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Funding is determined by a formula that includes the number of eligible migrant children and youth, age’s three through twenty-one, in each respective region and the number of eligible children served through summer and intersession programs. Participating regions and their school districts must comply with all state and federal statutes and guidelines.

Allocation Formula Allocations are based on a seven-factor formula that includes the following factors: migrant child counts; moved within a year, priority for services, age 19-21, academic need (number of migrant children scoring a Far Below Basic on the Language Arts and/or Mathematics CSTs) other federal, state and local available funds, and summer/intersession child counts.
