Community Day School (CDS) Additional Funding for Mandatorily Expelled Pupils


Funding Description

This revenue limit add-on provides funding for districts and county offices of education that operate community day schools. This funding is in addition to regular base revenue limit funding based on average daily attendance (ADA) in the community day school.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Local educational agencies (LEAs) are eligible to receive additional funding for CDS pupils who were expelled for any of the mandatory expulsion offenses as described in Education Code 48915(c).

Allocation Formula Per-pupil allocation is based on average daily attendance for the 5th and 6th hours ADA for mandatorily expelled pupils.

Schools with small school waivers that report ADA for mandatorily expelled pupils will also receive waiver funding that equals the amount displayed on the necessary small schools funding table for one certificated teacher less revenue limit received for any community day school pupils. The additional funding provided by the waiver is reduced by the current dollar value of any waiver funding included in the base-year funding for "All Other" CDS pupils.

Note: In addition to the mandatorily expelled pupils additional funding, LEAs may also receive additional funding for the "All Other" pupils as described in the Community Day School Additional Funding for "All Other" Pupils (Flexible Funds) profile as provided by California Education Code Section 42605.

Other Funds are paid through the Principal Apportionment. Principal Apportionment amounts are calculated three times for each fiscal year: The First Principal Apportionment (P-1) is certified by February 18th, the Second Principal Apportionment (P-2) is certified by July 1st, and the Annual calculation is certified by February 20th of the following year (at the same time as the following year's P-1 certification).
