Funding Description

International Baccalaureate (IB) provides funding to participating public high schools and middle schools that offer the IB Program. Funding can be used to cover ongoing costs of professional development required by the program and subsidize fees for exams for eligible students.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Public high schools and middle schools that offer the IB Diploma Program and the IB Middle Years Program are eligible. High schools that have the highest level of students from low-income families and high schools that are authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) are given priority.
Other Eligibility Considerations If funds are insufficient to fully fund all grants authorized, annual grants must first be allocated to those schools that were funded in the prior year and in the amount of the prior year's grant.

Allocation Formula For fiscal year 2010-11, these funds are now flexible. From fiscal years 2008-09 through 2012-13, funding for the flexible programs will be based on base year 2007-08 or 2008-09 funding levels as specified in Education Code Section 42605. In the current state fiscal year, each LEA will receive the same percentage of the available funding as it received in the base year.
