Apprenticeship


Funding Description

Apprenticeship is an on-the-job training and education delivery system. Funding, which is administered through the Principal Apportionment process, supports related and supplementary instruction in local adult education and Regional Occupational Centers and Program (ROC/P) agencies that have apprenticeship programs.

Allocation Formula Of the total $15,694,000 funding available, $9,467,000 is available in 2012-13, and $6,227,000 is deferred until 2013-14.

An apprentice program is funded for its actual hours, as reported in the Principal Apportionment Software, or its approved hours, whichever is less. The 2012–13 funding rate per hour is $5.04. If an apprentice program operates for more hours than its approved amount, the excess hours may be funded if sufficient funds are available. Excess hours may be allocated at a lower rate.

Other Funds are paid through the Principal Apportionment. Principal Apportionment amounts are calculated three times for each fiscal year: The First Principal Apportionment (P-1) is certified by February 20th, the Second Principal Apportionment (P-2) is certified by July 2nd, and the Annual calculation is certified by February 20th of the following year (at the same time as the following year's P-1 certification).
