Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Test Fee Reimbursement

Funding Description

The Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Test Fee Reimbursement Program removes the financial barriers that prevent many low-income students in high schools from taking the AP and IB course tests. Funding supports the payment of AP and IB test fees for income-eligible students.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Low-income students who are enrolled in an AP class and plan to take the end-of-course AP exam are eligible to participate in the program. Upon teacher recommendation, a low-income student who has previously taken an AP/IB class but not the exam may also be eligible to participate.
Other Eligibility Considerations LEAs must document the income eligibility of students participating in the program and maintain documentation of need at the school or LEA site for five years.

Allocation Formula Local educational agencies (LEAs) will be reimbursed up to $48 dollars for each AP exam, $95 dollars for each IB exam, and $140 dollars for IB registration for students whose familiy income does not exceed 185 percent of the federal poverty level.

Other This is a supplemental apportionment that eligible LEAs who applied for monies will be receiving for fiscal year 2011-12, which is State FY 2010-11. This payment must be paid out by November 30, 2012.
