September 24, 2007

Dear County Superintendents of Schools, Auditors, and Treasurers:

NOTICE OF REVISION OF THE FINAL APPORTIONMENT FOR THE
KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE THREE CLASS SIZE REDUCTION PROGRAM
FISCAL YEAR 2005-06

This apportionment, in the amount of $1,615,966, is made from funds provided by Item 6110-234-0001 of the Budget Act of 2005 (Chapter 38, Statutes of 2005) in support of the Kindergarten Through Grade Three (K-3) Class Size Reduction (CSR) Program. Funds are apportioned at $967 per pupil in an Option 1 class (full day program), and at $484 per pupil in an Option 2 class (half day program). The apportionment for each local educational agency (LEA) is based on actual enrollment in participating classes as submitted on the revised form J-7CSR, less any amount received in the advance, provisional, and final apportionments.

To view the schedule of apportionment showing the list of school districts and charter school,s by county, that generated each payment, please visit the California Department of Education K-3 CSR program Web site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/cs/k3/. Direct-funded and locally funded charter schools that applied for the K-3 CSR program on their own behalf are listed separately on the apportionment schedule. Funding for charter schools that did not apply on their own behalf is included in the chartering agency's entitlement if the chartering agency included charter school enrollment data in its J-7CSR.

Warrants will be mailed to each county treasurer approximately four weeks from the date of this Notice. For standardized account code structure coding, use Resource Code 1300, Class Size Reduction, Grades K-3, or Resource Code 0000, Unrestricted, and Revenue Object Code 8434, Class Size Reduction, Grades K-3. County superintendents of schools are requested to inform LEAs, including applicant charter schools, immediately of this apportionment.
