NOTICE OF THE SECOND RECOVERY OF OVERPAYMENTS FOR THE
KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE THREE CLASS SIZE REDUCTION PROGRAM
FROM THE PRINCIPAL APPORTIONMENT
FISCAL YEAR 2006-07
This recovery of overpayment in the amount of $36,567,552 is made pursuant to California Education Code (EC) Section 52124(d). The overpaid amount to each district or charter school is based on its entitlement, computed using the final enrollment counts submitted on form J-7CSR, as compared to the total amounts paid in the advance and provisional apportionments. In accordance with EC Section 52124(d), overpaid funds will be recovered from the next principal apportionment payment or other apportionment of state funds to the district. The State Controller will deduct this overpayment from the July 2007 principal apportionment payment. County superintendents of schools are requested to immediately inform each affected district or charter school of the adjustment.
In an effort to streamline the state apportionment process, we will continue to post the schedules of recoveries on the California Department of Education (CDE) Web site but eliminate them from our mailings. To view the schedule of recoveries showing the list of school districts and charter schools by county that generated each overpayment, please visit the CDE K-3 CSR program Web site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/cs/k3.
