Dear Select County Superintendents of Schools, Auditors, and Treasurers:
NOTICE OF APPORTIONMENT FOR THE
ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMINATION FEES PROGRAM
FISCAL YEAR 2004-05
This apportionment, in the amount of $1,550,000, is made from funds provided by Schedule (2) of Item 6110-240-0001 of the Budget Act of 2004 (Chapter 208, Statutes of 2004). This grant provides funding on a reimbursement basis to support the payment of student test fees for the Advanced Placement program. The grant for each local educational agency (LEA) is based on the number of eligible, low-income high school students taking higher level and/or subsidiary examinations established pursuant to the California Education Code (EC), commencing with Section 52240.
The State Advanced Placement Examination Fees program is included in the charter school block grant funding model pursuant to EC Section 47630 et seq., as amended by provisional language in Item 6110-211-0001 of the Budget Act of 2004. Therefore, charter schools that are participating in the funding model will receive their funding for this program as part of the categorical component of the charter school block grant, which is allocated as part of the principal apportionment. Charter schools that are not participating in the funding model will receive their funding for this program through their chartering agency if they are locally funded; direct-funded charter schools that are not participating in the funding model must apply separately to receive funds from this program.
Warrants will be mailed to each county treasurer approximately four weeks from the date of this Notice. For standardized account code structure coding, use Resource Code 0000, Unrestricted, and Revenue Object Code 8590, All Other State Revenue. County superintendents of schools are required to inform LEAs immediately of this apportionment.
