April 17, 2011
Dear Select County Superintendents of Schools:
This apportionment, in the amount of $4,370,000, is made from funds provided by Schedule 1 of Item 6110-107-0001, County Offices of Education Fiscal Oversight, of the Budget Act of 2010 (Chapter 712, Statutes of 2010), and is for the purpose of funding county offices of education for any new program or higher level of service required by the district oversight provisions of Assembly Bill 1200 (Chapter 1213, Statutes of 1991).
Entitlements for each county office of education (COE) are based on a rate of $0.317593 per unit of fiscal year 2009–10 Annual “Other Purpose” average daily attendance (ADA) as certified on February 18, 2011, with minimum funding of $69,920. This apportionment reflects 100 percent of each COE’s entitlement, which includes the reduction in Control Section 12.42 of the Budget Act of 2010.
Beginning in fiscal year 2010–11, letters of apportionment from the California Department of Education’s (CDE’s) School Fiscal Services Division are no longer being mailed to the county superintendents of schools. Instead, county superintendents are notified of each apportionment by e-mail. Accordingly, the CDE sent an e-mail to each county superintendent, addressed to the county’s CDEfisc e-mail address, to inform him or her of this apportionment. The e-mail contained a link to the CDE Categorical Programs Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/ca/ab1200coeoversght.asp where the letter and schedule for this apportionment are posted.
Warrants will be mailed to each county treasurer approximately three weeks from the date of this notice. The treasurer of each county shall immediately deposit the amount received to the County School Service Fund of the county superintendent of schools. For standardized account code structure (SACS) coding, use Resource Code 0000, Unrestricted Resource, and Revenue Object Code 8590, All Other State Income.
If you have any questions regarding this apportionment, please contact Kathy Mathews, Consultant, School Fiscal Services Division, by phone at 916-322-1647 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
