LtrRevFin-11: K-3 CSR

Letter Head: Tom Torlakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, California Department of Education

April 30, 2012

Dear Select County Superintendents of Schools:

NOTICE OF REVISION OF THE FINAL APPORTIONMENT FOR THE
KINDERGARTEN AND GRADES ONE THROUGH THREE
CLASS SIZE REDUCTION PROGRAM
FISCAL YEAR 2011–12
(AMOUNTS DEFERRED FROM FISCAL YEAR 2010–11)

This apportionment, in the amount of $3,203,951, is made from funds provided in Section 40 of Assembly Bill 1610 (Chapter 724, Statutes of 2010), in support of the Kindergarten and Grades One Through Three Class Size Reduction (K-3 CSR) Program.

The county superintendents of schools were notified of this apportionment by e-mail which was sent to their CDEfisc e-mail addresses. The California Department of Education (CDE) requested that the e-mail be forwarded to the school districts and charter schools in the county, and included the link to this letter and the apportionment schedule which are posted on the CDE Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/ca/k3csr.asp under fiscal year 2011–12.

The apportionment for each school district or charter school is based on actual enrollment in participating classes as submitted on the revised Form J‑7CSR, less any amounts received in the December 2010 Advance Apportionment, February 2011 Provisional Apportionment, and July 2011 Final Apportionment. Funds are apportioned at $1,071 per pupil in an Option 1 class (full day), and at $535 per pupil in an Option 2 class (half day). Funding for charter schools that did not apply on their own behalf is included in the authorizing entity’s entitlement if the entity included charter school enrollment data in its Form J‑7CSR.

Warrants will be mailed to each County Treasurer approximately four weeks from the date of this Notice. For standardized account code structure coding, use Resource Code 1300, Class Size Reduction, Grades K-3 or Resource Code 0000, Unrestricted, and Revenue Object Code 8434, Class Size Reduction, Grades K-3.

If you have any questions regarding this apportionment, please contact Rebecca Lee, Fiscal Consultant, Categorical Allocations and Management Assistance Office, by phone at 916‑324‑4533 or by e-mail at relee@cde.ca.gov.

Sincerely,

Jeannie Oropeza, Deputy Superintendent
