High Priority Schools -- Implementation

Note: The due date for the request for applications has passed. This page is for reference and administration of funding.

The High Priority Schools Grant Program (HPSGP) is intended to assist the lowest performing schools in the state in raising student achievement by offering additional resources targeted at student performance. Participation in Cohort 2 of the HPSGP is prioritized in ascending order to schools in decile ranks one through five based on the 2005 Base Academic Performance Index (API).

September 11 , 2006 - Second Invitation to Eligible Planning Grantees

This table applies only to the 116 schools eligible to apply to the HPSGP. These applicants were either invited in May 2006 and declined or they are alternative schools that were not invited in May 2006. Applicants must submit a complete application with required forms by January 12, 2007. Follow the instructions in the Guidance and Application shown below in the third table.

This pre-populated Letter of Intent was mailed on September 13, 2006 to superintendents and principals of 116 eligible schools. If the form was not received, use this manual version. Copy and paste the required data from the Eligible Schools List and submit as instructed on the form. The Letter of Intent must be received by 5 p.m. September 29, 2006. This Web page will be updated periodically to include the names of the schools that have accepted the invitation.


August 16, 2006 - Invitation to Convert from Cohort 4 or 5 CSR to HPSGP

This table applies only to the 92 Comprehensive School Reform (CSR) schools eligible to convert to the HPSGP. Applicants invited in May 2006 should follow the instructions in the Guidance and Application in the second table below.

May 2006 - Initial Invitation to Eligible Planning Grantees

This table applies to schools that accepted a planning grant in May 2006. All forms listed below must be completed and returned unless otherwise noted.

Overview, timeline, process, and requirements for eligible Cohort 2 HPSGP grantees to obtain implementation funding in fiscal year 2006-07. This document contains the necessary funding forms except for the General Assurances Form and the Drug-Free Certification Form. These two forms, and all forms contained in the Guidance, can be accessed individually using the links shown below.

General Assurances

The General Assurances form was revised and no longer includes a signature line; but, by signing the LEA Cover Page, the LEA is agreeing to the terms contained in the General Assurances provided on CDEs Web site.

Drug-Free Workplace Certification
Certifies compliance with all matters relating to providing a drug-free workplace. Print, sign, and return this form with the application.
