School Improvement Grant (SIG) Cohort 3


Note: The due date for the request for applications has passed. This page is for reference and administration of funding.

The SIG provides funding to help Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) address the needs of schools in improvement, corrective action, and restructuring to improve student achievement. In conjunction with funds reserved under Section 1003(a), SIGs are to be used to leverage change and improve technical assistance under sections 1116 and 1117 of Title I, Part A of the ESEA through LEAs targeting activities towards measurable outcomes as described on this page. Expected results from the use of these funds include improving student proficiency, increasing the numbers of schools that make adequate yearly progress, using data to inform decisions, and creating a system of continuous feedback and improvement.

This revised Draft Request for Application includes general information, forms, checklist and rubric. The application is due no later than Friday, March 14, 2014, by 4:00 p.m.
Eligible Schools List (XLS) This worksheet that shows the 110 schools that are eligible to apply for School Improvement Grant, Cohort 3, funding.
Forms 4-5 - Budget Forms (XLS; Revised 20-Feb-2014) This revised Excel workbook contains templates for Forms 4a, 4b, 5a, and 5b, the Budget Summaries and Budget Narratives. Only one workbook should be submitted and must include all sites, including the district.
Form 8 - Sustainability of Reforms (XLS) This Word document contains Form 8: Sustainability of Reforms After the Funding Period Ends. This document is required for the application.
Form 10 - Implementation Charts (XLS) This Excel document contains Form 10: Implementation Charts for each of the models. This document is required for the application.
Form 11 - Tier III Implementation Charts (DOC) This Word document contains Form 11: Implementation Chart for a Tier III School. This document is required for Tier III schools only.
Funding Results A total of 4 districts were funded on behalf of 11 schools.

Required as a condition of receiving funds. Applicants do not need to sign and return them with the application; they must be downloaded and kept on file for compliance reviews, complaint investigations, or audits. Applicants that participate in the Consolidated Application - ConApp - should have a copy on file and do not need another copy. Program-specific assurances are not included here and should be listed separately on the Request for Application (RFA).
