Regional Application (RA) and District Services Agreement (DSA)

California Department of Education/Migrant, Indian, and International Education Office (CDE/MIIEO) will provide orientation to region and district staff to complete the required program application and related documents.

January 2010

Technical Assistance

CDE/MIIEO staff will provide technical assistance to Regional staff to ensure that applications are completed in timely manner. See attachment for program and fiscal staff assignments. It is expected that the Region will provide technical assistance and training to districts as needed.

February - May 2010

DSA, and DSA Checklists

Districts are to submit the MEP—District Service Agreement (MEP—DSA) to the Regional Office. The regions will be required to use the 2010–11 CDE/MIIEO MEP—DSA Checklist to ensure that the MEP—DSAs are fully completed and meet all requirements. The MEP—DSA must be signed by the reviewer (Regional Director or his/her Designee). All documents must be fully completed before they are submitted to the CDE/MIIEO.

Submit one Regional Application (RA) with original signatures and two copies, and one set of signed assurances to:

One signed copy of the MEP—DSA with a copy of the completed and corresponding MEP—DSA Checklist or a CD with the electronic copies of all approved MEP—DSAs and their completed and correspondent rubric is acceptable. However, original signature pages for the DSA and Rubric must accompany the application. A set of DSA assurances with original signatures must be filed at the Regional Office.

CDE/MIIEO Application Review Process

CDE/MIIEO staff will review the MEP—RA and a five percent sampling of the DSAs to ensure that the applications meet CDE’s requirements for approval. If additional information or revisions are required, CDE/MIIEO staff will contact the Regional Director.

June 2010

Notification of Approval Letter

CDE/MIIEO will mail Notification of Approval Letter to Regions upon approval of MEP—RA and MEP—DSAs.
