Dear Superintendents of School Districts, County Superintendents of Schools, and Administrators of Direct-Funded Charter Schools Serving Grades Four through Eight,
The California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking applications for the Enhancing Education through Technology Competitive (EETT C) Round 7 grant program. Grant awards will be identified through a competitive Request for Application (RFA) review process. There will be approximately $15 million available to be awarded to eligible Lead Education Agencies in EETT C Round 7.
The EETT Competitive Grant Program was established as part of the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Public Law 107-110, Title II, Part D. In addition to the federal law, the grant program is governed by California legislation, Assembly Bill 2706, Education Technology Grant Program of 2002 (Education Code sections 52295.10-52295.55 and state regulations Title 5, Division 1, Subchapter 20.5, sections 11971-11979.5).
The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to improve student academic achievement of state content standards in grades four through eight through the use of technology. In addition to the focus on academic achievement, the grant helps to bridge the digital divide with expanded access to technology resources and with the integration of grade level appropriate technology proficiencies that will help ensure all students achieve technology literacy by the time they finish the eighth grade, regardless of the student's race, ethnicity, gender, family income, geographic location, or disability.
The Request For Applications is available on the EETT C Round 7 Information Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r5/eettc08rfa.asp. The RFA details the funding structure, funding priorities, and programmatic requirements of the EETT Competitive grant program. Eligible LEAs may apply for the EETT Competitive grant program; however, individual schools may only receive EETT Competitive funding one time. The application must be received by the CDE no later than April 23, 2008, 5 p.m.
