Request for Applications

School Community Violence Prevention

Note: The due date for the request for applications has passed. This page is for reference and administration of funding.

The School Community Violence Prevention Program provides grants of up to $500,000 for a five-year period for school districts or county offices of education wishing to address school safety and violence prevention issues. Approximately 10 percent of the funds will be awarded to quality projects from rural school districts in California. New this year will be an additional set aside of 20 percent for quality projects that focus on gang violence prevention. Applicants are required to submit a Request to Apply, which includes portions of the school safety plan from each site identified in the grant application. The Request to Apply is due December 14, 2007 by 5 p.m. Please note: The Crime and Violence Prevention Center at the Attorney General's Office has long been our partner in the administration of the SCVP grant. This office was recently eliminated as a result of reductions in the budget at the Attorney General's Office. Please contact CDE staff if you have questions.
