Dropout Prevention

Programs and services that provide student support, train staff, and improve school climate to prevent students from dropping out of school and to recover those who have left and help them complete their education.

Dropout Prevention and Recovery Programs - Senate Bill (SB) 65

Dropout Prevention and Recovery Programs (SB 65) that increase a school's holding power include the Pupil Motivation and Maintenance Program, Alternative Education Outreach Consultant Program, and the Educational Clinic Program. Early identification and intervention, creating and improving resiliency factors, and a nurturing school climate are among the strategies suggested for students at high risk of failure.

Schools that received dropout prevention funding for fiscal year 2008-09 as part of the Pupil Retention Block Grant are asked to complete year-end reports:

Pupil Motivation and Maintenance Program
Guidelines to implement the Pupil Motivation and Maintenance Program.

SB 65 Program Summary
Program descriptions of the Pupil Motivation and Maintenance Program, Alternative Education Outreach Consultant Program, and the Educational Clinic Program.

Student Success Teams
