Dear District Superintendents and Direct-Funded Charter School Administrators:

UPDATE ON THE MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL SUPPLEMENTAL COUNSELING PROGRAM

Funding for the Middle and High School Supplemental Counseling Program, authorized under Assembly Bill (AB) 1802 (2006), is included in the proposed 2007-08 California Budget. The funds for this program in 2007-08 will continue to be calculated based upon prior year enrollment in grades seven through twelve, inclusive, reported through the Annual Statewide Student Identifier Maintenance process which is part of the California Basic Educational Data System (CBEDS).

There are some significant changes to the application and reporting processes for the program beginning with the 2007-08 year. Application for 2007-08 funding will be made through the 2007-08 Consolidated Application, Part I. The Consolidated Application process is an electronic application submitted through the Internet and is available on the CDE Web site at: http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/co. The due date for the 2007-08 Consolidated Application, Part I is June 30, 2007.

The school districts and direct-funded charter schools that participated in the program for 2006-07, as well as all participants in subsequent years, will submit a data report to the CDE through the Consolidated Application, Part II. The format for this submission is currently being developed by the CDE.
