Dear County Superintendents of Schools, Auditors, and Treasurers:
NOTICE OF THE RECOVERY OF OVERPAYMENTS FOR
THE KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE THREE CLASS SIZE
REDUCTION PROGRAM FROM THE REVISED FINAL APPORTIONMENT
FISCAL YEAR 2003-04
This recovery of overpayment, in the amount of $1,303,281, is made pursuant to California Education Code Section 52124(d). The overpaid amount to each district or charter school is based on the final, audited entitlement, computed using the revised (audited) enrollment counts for 2003-04 submitted on form J-7CSR, as compared to the total amounts paid in previous apportionments for 2003-04.
The enclosed schedule indicates the amount overpaid to each district or charter school in your county. The State Controller will deduct the overpayment from the February 2006 First Principal Apportionment. If the amount of the February 2006 warrant is insufficient to fully recover the overpayment, the balance will be recovered from the March 2006 warrant. County Superintendents of Schools are requested to immediately inform each affected district or charter school of the adjustment and provide each with a copy of this letter and schedule.
