CALNET for State Departments and Agencies
A contract was signed between the State of California (state departments and agencies) and Pacific Bell and MCI WorldCom. On 12/04/1998, for 7 years, with 3 optional 1-year extensions. The contract is due to expire on 12/04/2005.
The contract was competitively bid under California Contracts Code Section 12102(b). Government Code Section 14931 provides authorization for all public agencies, who accept the terms and conditions to procure services through this contract.
CALNET for Other California Public Sector Entities
(Local Counties and Cities)
All other eligible California public sector entities (nonstate agencies) can receive the pricing benefits and other benefits of the CALNET contract by signing a Form 20 (this form is available from the account team) and an Authorization to Order (ATO). The ATO becomes effective upon three signatures (the entity, Department of General Services, and either Pacific Bell or MCI WorldCom).
On the Form 470, Block 2, Item 7, check 7c if a new contract is being sought in the E-rate funding year. If the CALNET ATO is ongoing from previous years, no Form 470 is needed unless new services are being requested (e.g., upgrading from one product to another not on the ATO). When you fill out the Form 471 for funding, refer to the Form 470 filed prior to signing the ATO.
The date of the third signature becomes your contract award date (Form 471, Block 5, Item 18). The ATOs do not have "contract numbers," so you can enter N/A or assign your own number for Block 5, Item 15. The contract expiration date is 12/04/2005.
