Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Report

The Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Report allows local educational agencies (LEAs) to report programs and services that address alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and school violence.

Required by Law

Health and Safety Code Section 104450 requires all county offices of education, school districts, and direct-funded charter schools that receive Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE) funds to complete an annual report of their activities and expenditures relating to the TUPE Program. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 also requires information to be submitted about Title IV Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC) Programs. The release of SDFSC and TUPE entitlement funds is contingent upon the submission of this report. The Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Report is due to the California Department of Education by June 30 of each year. See the Annual Report Letter for more information.

NOTE: The end of Title IV in June 2010 eliminates the annual report requirements for local educational agencies (LEAs) that received Title IV funds. The latest report available at the Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Report Web Site below is for 2009-10. However, TUPE still requires that LEAs receiving TUPE competitive grant funds submit an annual report. TUPE annual reports are available at the Web Site below.
