This Management Bulletin (MB) informs Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsors that they are no longer required to issue an annual public media release. The change is effective immediately.
New CACFP agencies are still responsible for issuing an initial public media release. The Nutrition Services Division (NSD) will issue all subsequent media releases.
Background
Per Title 7, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 226.6(f)(1)(v), the U.S. Department of Agriculture requires “each institution to issue a media release unless the state agency has issued a statewide media release on behalf of all its institutions.”
Each year, the NSD’s statewide media release will encourage families to visit the following California Department of Education Web pages to find agencies participating in the CACFP:
