This Management Bulletin (MB) notifies Child and Adult Care Food Program Day Care Home (DCH) sponsors of a change in the process for reporting providers determined to be Tier I based on participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as the CalFresh Program (CFP) in California.
Background
Title 7, Code of Federal Regulations Section 226.6 (f)(1)(viii)(E), requires DCH sponsors to annually notify the state agency of providers determined to be Tier I based on participation in the CFP. The California Department of Education requires DCH sponsors to annually submit a list of providers determined to be Tier I based on CFP participation during the month of March.
Action Required
By April 16, 2012, DCH sponsors must take one of the following actions:
- For all providers that are Tier I solely based on participation in the CFP, designate “Food Stamp Program” in item number G2 of the Child Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS) in the provider’s application. The DCH sponsors must establish procedures to assure the information is reported accurately in the CNIPS.
- Notify their assigned DCH program specialist if none of their providers are designated as Tier I based solely on participation in the CFP.
Beginning in March 2013, DCH sponsors must take the action required above during the month of March each year.
