This Management Bulletin notifies Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) local agencies that on June 3, 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a revised version of the USDA Foods Program Disaster Manual. The manual is available at the USDA Web page http://www.fns.usda.gov/fdd/programs/fd-disasters/FDDDisasterManual.pdf.
The USDA Foods Program Disaster Manual has added useful tools for agencies about disaster preparation.Specifically, Part II: PREPARING FOR A PRESIDENTIALLY DECLARED DISASTER, EMERGENCY, OR SITUATION OF DISTRESS. This section includes sourcing and identifying non-government organizations (NGOs) and faith-based organizations that can be established ahead of time as authorized congregate feeding sites. Partnering ahead of time with NGOs and faith-based organizations can facilitate response time to assist the people if and when a disaster occurs.
