The California Department of Education (CDE) provides leadership on and support of nutrition services to enhance the health, well-being, development, and educational potential of California’s children, adults, and families.

The State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Torlakson, has initiated the Team California for Healthy Kids campaign to promote good eating habits and physical activity throughout the day, every day, in schools, before and after school programs, childcare programs and communities. Tom Torlakson has unveiled his Blueprint for Great Schools which includes recommendations to improve nutrition and physical activity in schools. His Blueprint can be viewed at CDE’s News Release Web page.
