This Management Bulletin (MB) provides clarification regarding Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sponsors using migrant eligibility to qualify open or restricted-open meal service sites.
Sponsors may use migrant eligibility in lieu of area eligibility to establish open or restricted-open meal service sites as defined by SFSP regulations, Title 7, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 225.2.
The following principles apply:
- The eligibility of a migrant open or restricted-open site is based on a determination that the site predominantly serves the children of migrant workers. The SFSP at this type of site is also available to any child wishing to receive a meal without any type of enrollment.
- The determination must be from a migrant organization that states the site predominantly serves the children of migrant workers.
- Open and restricted-open sites that are established based on information from migrant organizations must annually provide redetermination.
