Subject: Corrections to Title 7, Code of Federal Regulations Part 245

Reference: Federal Register, Vol. 65, No. 97, May 18, 2000; 7 CFR Part 245.6a

This Management Bulletin provides corrections to page 285 of Title 7, Code of Federal Regulations (7 CFR) 245.6a(a)(2)(v) and (a)(5), entitled Determining Eligibility for Free and Reduced Price Meals and Free Milk in Schools. These revisions, which became effective January 1, 2000, replace the term Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) with Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).

Accordingly, the fourth sentence of 7 CFR 245.6a(a)(2)(v) is corrected to read:

"Selected households must also be informed that, in lieu of any information that would otherwise be required, they can submit proof of current food stamp, FDPIR, or TANF certification as described in paragraph (a)(3) of this section to verify the free meal eligibility of a child who is a member of a food stamp, FDPIR, or TANF household."

The last sentence of 7 CFR 245.6a (a)(5) is corrected to read:

"Verification of eligibility is not required of households when the determination of eligibility was based on documentation provided by the state or local agency responsible for the administration of the Food Stamp Program, FDPIR, or TANF Program, as described in 7 CFR 245.6(b)."

Note: In California, the TANF Program is named California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs).
