Subject: State Procurement Threshold for Calendar Year 2012

This Management Bulletin (MB) notifies public schools and county offices of education that the 2012 California state procurement threshold is $81,000. More information is available on the California Department of Education Bid Threshold Adjustment Letter Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/ac/co/bidthreshold2011.asp (Note: the preceding Web address is no longer valid).

While federal regulations governing the school nutrition programs set the procurement threshold at $100,000, public schools and county offices of education must follow the state threshold of $81,000.

All purchases funded from revenues generated by school food services are subject to competitive bidding, including (but not limited to):

  1. Equipment, materials, food, and supplies to be furnished, sold, or leased to the district
  2. Perishable food items
  3. Food service management and consulting services and vended meal contracts
  4. Repairs, including maintenance as defined in California Public Contract Code (PCC) Section 20115, that are not public projects as defined in PCC Section 22002(c)
