This Management Bulletin (MB) provides the 2011–12 Income Eligibility Guidelines (IEGs) for the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program, and State Meal Program; and provides information regarding the requirements for calculating household income(s). The IEG scale is effective July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2012, and is located at the California Department of Education Rates, Eligibility Scales, and Funding Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/nu/rs/.

Calculation Methods

Sponsors should multiply household income that is received weekly by 52; twice a month by 24; every two weeks by 26; and once a month by 12. This calculation method is consistent with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Eligibility for School Meals Manual located on the USDA Web site at http://www.fns.usda.gov/sites/default/files/EliMan.pdf.
