AGENDA
  1. Call to order
    Deputy Superintendent Sue Stickel, Curriculum and Instruction Branch, California Department of Education (CDE)
  2. Welcome, introductions, report by the Chair
  3. Approval of the agenda
    Agenda items are based upon topics suggested by TAG members at the last meeting.
  4. Approval of minutes from the meeting of June 2, 2006
  5. Public comment
    This agenda item is included for the purpose of giving anyone in attendance an opportunity to ask questions or discuss non-agenda items with the advisory group.
  6. Copyrights and Legal Language
    Jim Long, Education Programs Assistant, Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources Division, will apprise the TAG on copyright issues as well as draft language that could be used by local educational agencies in establishing contracts with translation providers
  7. Update from CDE, including projected outreach for 2006-07
    Tom Adams will provide an update on the translations contracts. Rod Atkinson will update the TAG on the Clearinghouse for Multilingual Documents (CMD). Members of the TAG are welcome to suggest conferences and organizations for CMD outreach efforts.
  8. Statistics for the Prioritization of Translations
    CDE staff will provide information containing the most recent (2006) enrollment and language census data for those language groups that fall into the “15 percent threshold” in California public schools (California Education Code Section 48985).
  9. Expenditure Estimate for Translations
    Tom Adams will review with TAG members the estimated plan for expenditure of funds for translation of parental notifications templates.
  10. Member Discussion
    This agenda item is an opportunity for TAG members to raise and/or discuss issues not formally on the agenda but within the group's purview. Some issues may need to be deferred to future meetings.
  11. Next meeting date and possible agenda topics
    The presiding officer and TAG members will project date options for the next meeting and will brainstorm possible topics for future discussion or recommendation.
  12. Adjournment

Break periods will be determined at the discretion of the presiding officer.

Visitor parking is available in State Parking Lot #14, located at 1517 13th Street (between 13th and 14th streets). The entrance to the parking structure is on 13th Street. There are approximately 80 rooftop spaces that have been identified for visitors to use. The rate is $1.25 per half an hour. Parking hours are from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and a parking attendant is on site.

Los visitantes pueden estacionar su auto en el estacionamiento estatal número 14, situado en el 1517 de la Calle 13,  (entre las calles 13 y 14). Se entra por la Calle 13. Hay aproximadamente 80 plazas de azotea reservadas para uso de los visitantes. La tarifa es $1.25 por cada media hora. Las horas de estacionamiento son de 6 de la mañana a 7 de la tarde y hay un un empleado en el estacionamiento.
