Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Report

The Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Reporting Form is designed to allow local educational agencies (LEAs) to report services that address alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and violence.
Required by Law

The Health and Safety Code Section 104450 requires all county offices of education, school districts, and direct-funded charter schools that receive Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE) funding to complete an annual report of their activities and expenditures relating to the TUPE program. The No Child Left Behind Act also requires information to be submitted about Title IV Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC) programs. The Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Report is designed to report information related to these programs and other services that address alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and violence. The release of SDFSC and TUPE entitlement funds is contingent on the receipt of this report. Four health education questions have also been included to reduce duplicate reporting procedures.

Due Date

The report is due to the California Department of Education by June 30 of each year.

Purpose of the Report

The purpose of the report is to provide information for statewide accountability that shows the services that the LEAs are providing. The results of the local data are summarized and made available in a statewide summary report, county summary report, and individual reports for each LEA. These summaries allow local educators to learn about the types of programs that are being used throughout the state.

Online Access

The report can be found at the Healthy Kids Annual Report (Outside Source) Web site. From the main page, follow the links to view the various reports or to register and enter data.
